The Cottage on the Lake: Rental info

Some essential things to know...

Your requested Rental Dates:
    ▪  these are considered to be the nights you plan to stay over.  For example, if from Saturday to Friday, you'd arrive on Saturday afternoon on or after 3:00 PM, and depart on the next Saturday by 11:00 AM.  (We're flexible with these times, as bookings allow)
The holding deposit:
    ▪  a $100. holding deposit reserves the cottage for the dates you book.  By default, the holding deposit is non-refundable.  However, should you need to cancel, we will gladly refund the holding deposit if we are able to re-book your reserved dates.

Rental payment:
  ▪  the balance of the rent is due on or before your arrival date, and is usually paid by personal check.  Please see the Contact Us! page for the mailing address.

Linens and towels:
    ▪  guests are to provide their own linens (sheets, pillow covers, and towels), we provide the blankets.  The bunks were equipped with new mattresses and pillows in May, 2006.

Pets are welcome! (just please clean-up after them)

Drinking water:
    ▪  it's suggested that you bring your own drinking water.  The cottage draws its water from a well, and we cannot guarantee its purity.

Firewood:
    ▪  guests are to provide their own firewood.  This website will be updated with local providers.  It's OK to use fallen branches for kindling, but trees (dead or alive) are not to be cut down without prior permission.

  Heating the cottage:
    ▪  the cottage isn't insulated, and is therefore only offered during the warmer months of May through October.  For heat we provide a 10,000 BTU/hr kerosene heater that can be safely used indoors (please first read the operating instructions).  The kerosene is kept in a blue, 5-gallon container, which may need refilling.  While the cottage also has a fireplace, it is most often used for ambiance, as it doesn't heat as efficiently as the kerosene heater.  There is also a ceiling fan for a cooling breeze or forcing the warm air down. Please do not use the stove/oven for heating.

  Cleaning before your departure:
    ▪  it is your responsibility to clean after yourself before your departure.  Please leave the cottage and grounds at least as clean as you found them.  We provide garbage bags, and a vacuum cleaner is kept in the pump-room area.  We thank you in advance.
